My India trek Nov 1973 - Feb 1974     -     John van der Woude    introduction

^ Three students at the Punjab University campus of Chandigarh.
I stayed a week in the room of the most lefthand one, who just then went off to Delhi. Right: Dalbir Sandhu who had introduced me here, and accompanied me often. Middle: Harmit.

I think it was here where we had all our student meals. Chapattis were flung at students who ordered them too loudly! A very lively place. Also note the trail through the lawn. Le Corbusier, the architect of this town, had not made any paths beforehand but just awaited how people would make their own, a clever idea.

^ Upscale residential area.

More university buildings.

^ A barber on the outskirts of Chandigarh.

^ Cycle riskhaw drivers playing a game. Also note the string bed being made or repaired.
