Bird sounds from our Bolivia birding trip September/October 2000

See trip report at www.jvanderw.nl  -  introduction

Here are 50 recordings from this trip to highlands and lowlands, with wetter and drier sites.

This is a selection of what we recorded there on minidisc, and typically it contains several species that may puzzle the birder visiting these sites: often heard but not often seen.

Included is a recording of a spluttering river dolphin.

The sounds are in mp3 format, which greatly reduces file size, and which can be played easily now (just try by clicking on the file name). In case you cannot yet play mp3, download e.g. the free WinAmp player program at e.g. www.download.com

The species are given below in the sequence of the trip. I checked this selection on Sjoerd Mayer’s CD-ROM Birds of Bolivia version 2 (see info on www.birdsongs.com). Compared to the wealth of sounds on that CD-ROM (with an enormous photo collection as well), the selection below is just meant to appetize, but still representative of what you will hear on such a trip in that season. Sjoerd himself has helped me identify some of the species of the early part of the trip.

Sjoerd Mayer himself checked this page later also, and made several corrections and found several extra species at the background. His identifications are indicated with "SjM".
